On Monday 19th September Christopher Bailey revealed for the first time Burberrys runway to retail collection. One might say he is crazy to show the A/W 16 collection physically and not through a video stream 7 months late but he did it!
The show was staged in a derelict building which was once a Foyles bookshop which relates to his inspiration to this seasons collection, Virginia Woolf's novel, Orlando: A Biography. A copy of the novel was placed on every guests seat watching the show.
The A/W 16 collection included gold lace dresses styled over geo-patterned velvets, Heavy tapestry prints on structured, over sized sleeved tunic dresses. Trench coats with clashing leopard print sleeves pinned at the waist with studded, statement belts. Layers of clashing fabrics and textures. Decorated drummer boy jackets with elaborate gold finishes and oversized shearlings layered with coordinating pyjama sets and poetic ruffled high neck shirts.
