Linziclip - Hair Clips With A Difference!

Hair Clips With A Difference!

The time has finally come to announce my latest collaboration with the hair accessories brand, Linziclip. I don't know about you but I use hair clips on a daily basis, especially when I need to clip away my hair to apply my makeup in the morning. There is nothing worse than getting strands of hair in concealer! I usually use two very basic duckbill clips which are generally used by hairdressers to clip away hair when styling it. My hair type is long, thin and naturally straight so when it's clean and it has that silky texture, I find it impossible to find a claw clip that holds my hair without sliding out. That is why I was excited to collaborate with  Linziclip, who have reinvented the original claw clip!

ABOUT

Linziclip was created by Lindsey Walker and Shelley-Anne Salisbury with the main purpose and goal to produce a more contemporary claw clip that didn't share the same issues as the original one. They eliminated the painful claw clip teeth, the visible springs and designed a unique version with a cylindrical shape with two hidden springs. This new design is said to have a more secure and comfortable grip and doesn't snag or slip out of the hair, plus it doesn't leave kinks!
Since the original Linziclip claw clip the team have continued to innovate the design by launching different sizes and adding vibrant colours and prints to their product range. The Linziclip claw clip is now available in three sizes to match different hair types, including;

  • Maxi (fine and thin hair)
  • Midi (medium and thicker hair)
  •  Mini (all hair types)
"The Linziclip® is a revolutionary new hair clip which thanks to its patented advanced gripping mechanism and two spring device, camouflages the inner workings of the old style claw clip whilst gripping the hair better than ever before. Invented for versatility, looks and comfort with its unique cylindrical shape, the Linziclip® has taken the world by storm and is selling in 17 countries around the world and counting". Linziclip

SAMPLE & REVIEW

In this collaboration with Linziclip, they kindly sent out a variety of product samples for me to try. I received eight different styles from their current collection including their Mini, Midi and Maxi claw clips, all in various colours and prints including; Bold basics, Diamonté encrusted, Leopard and Zebra prints and matte finish. I was eager to test out the new claw clip to see if it really did work with my hair type.
My first impressions of the Linziclip claw clip was that it was noticeably different with its unique shape and flat back. I was impressed with the robustness of the clasp and its hidden springs. My favourite styles were the Leopard and Zebra prints and I would recommend the design team to continue to launch contemporary prints such as these ones.
I tried the Linziclip's with clean and straightened hair. When it is freshly washed my hair is usually very silky and clips fail to grip onto it properly in this condition.  I then tried out various hair styles with the clips, hairstyles that I would usually do at home. The clips that worked the best with my hair type was the Mini and Maxi and I would definitely use the Maxi more often as it holds more hair. I was genuinely surprised that the Linziclip's managed to hold my hair in multiple styles when it was freshly washed and in that type of condition. The claw clips not only managed to hold my hair for a long period of time, it also stayed  in the exact position where I initially placed it. It didn't slide out once in any of the multiple styles that I tried out. I even forgot it was in my hair for a while, that is how comfortable these clips are! They are also super easy to use and to remove without getting your hair stuck or tangled in the clip. I highly recommend for you to try them out too!
Check out the styles I created below!

#OOTD - In Lake Como

#OOTD

In Lake Como

You have probably noticed that I was in Lake Como, Italy, over the Easter weekend, as I've posted about 20 photos on IG from this trip.
I have always heard that Lake Como was a beautiful part of Italy but that was definitely an understatement. I was in complete awe with this stunning location, with its aqua blue lake, mountain views and old towns sitting on the hillside with orange tiled roofs and the very traditional Italian Catholic church, visible from the distance.
My boyfriend and I drove from Switzerland to Lake Como which took about 5 hours in total and I had the privilege to select the hotel this time round. I chose the most traditional, Italian-styled hotel there was in the region, (which was in our budget of course), this being the Grand Hotel Imperiale Resort & Spa Lago di Como. I think I deserve a pat on the back for this choice as it was one of the most beautiful hotels that I have ever stayed at. The interior decor and architecture is exactly what you would expect for a traditional Italian hotel, with stone-pillared balconies, palm tree and floral gardens, (where you are able to wine and dine outdoors), mosaic tiled floors, decorative ceilings, bedroom views overlooking Lake Como, outdoor swimming pool, Spa, plus the staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was exactly what we wanted. Away from the busy, tourist area of Como Centre, our hotel was situated in a small town on the lake called Moltrasio, and if you ask me, this place was a lot more picturesque than Como Centre. We couldn't have asked for more with the location of the hotel as Moltrasio's old town is a short distance walk uphill behind the hotel and right in front was the boat port where you are able to travel by boat to any town on Lake Como and that is exactly what we did to travel to Como Centre and Cernobbio.
Lake Como may look bougie with its yachts and speed boats and hillside mansions but you would be surprised, the restaurants, activities and transport links for tourists are very affordable, (Pizza 5 Euros and boat trip return 7.50 Euros).
I don't know about you but I like to plan my outfit's in advance, before a trip and style them accordingly to what I would imagine would suit the location.  I find when I do this, I tend to pack a lot less and not overpack unnecessary items.
In this #OOTD I decided to wear a floral dress with puff sleeves from Topshop, as the weather was sunny and 18 degrees and felt more like Summer than Spring. I wore the dress with black, mule slides from ZARA. I accessorised the outfit with an oversized straw bag from ZARA and I wore multi-necklace gold chains from Topshop as well as round sunglasses and multiple gold pin slides in my hair, both from H&M.

Outfit Breakdown

  • Floral Dress: Topshop
  • Gold Multi-chains: Topshop
  • Black Mule Slides: ZARA
  • Round Sunglasses: H&M
  • Gold Hair Pins: H&M
  • Straw Bag: ZARA

The Best Looks From The Met Gala 2019

The Best Looks From The Met Gala 2019

Yesterday, on Monday 6th May 2019, the biggest annual fashion charity event took place at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art, the one and only, Met Gala.
This famous, VIP, exclusive event is invite only and every celebrity in the Music, Film, Fashion or Television industry wants that invitation but only a few are selected each year.
The main purpose of the Met Gala is to raise money for the Met's Costume Institute and to celebrate the grand opening of their latest exhibition.
Each year at the Met Gala, there is a new dress-code theme. This years theme is Camp: Notes on Fashion. The exhibit is inspired by Susan Sontag's 1964 essay that defines camp as "love of the unnatural: of artifice and exaggeration". If you asked me to guess the theme before researching this I would have thought it was 1920s burlesque or circus.
The Met Gala is known to be the most extravagant event in the fashion calendar, where luxury designers have the opportunity to select their muse from the VIP celebrity guest-list and to design the most sensational, haute-couture outfit, in relation to the theme of course. The Mets red carpet, which is basically like the Fashion's week runway, is full of paparazzi and it is where all the guests make their grand entrance to the event to showcase their unique lavish outfits. It is also a great platform for designers to receive mass publicity and recognition for their haute-couture creations. This year's luxury designers included Valentino, Oscar de la Renta, Givenchy, Moschino, Giambattista Valli, Saint Laurent, Tory Burch, Dior, Tom Ford, Thom Browne, Versace, Dundas and many more.
